Advanced NMP Recovery Systems for Lithium Batteries – Zschemistry
The Role of Electronic Grade N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone Solvent in Electronics Manufacturing
N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMp) is a solvent used in many industries and applications, including electronics. It's a powerful, low-volatility solvent with high polarity and solvency power. NMp is used as a photoresist stripper, for refluxing, degreasing, and cleaning.
NMp is used in the electronics field because it can dissolve organic and inorganic compounds as well as or better than chlorofluorocarbon solvents. It's also replacing 1,1,1-trichloroethane in metal cleaning applications.
NMp is also used in:
- Paint and coating removal
- Petrochemical processing
- Engineering plastics coatings
- Agricultural chemicals
- Industrial and domestic cleaning
- Pharmaceuticals
NMp is a water-miscible polar aprotic solvent. It's classified as a reproductive toxicant and can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin, and by ingestion.
NMp is colorless and transparent, but the color of the liquid can vary depending on the purity. It has a slight ammonia smell and is highly absorbent so that it will absorb moisture in the air.
NMp violently reacts with strong oxidizers such as hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid. The primary decomposition products produce carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide fumes. Excessive exposure or spillage should be avoided.
Optimizing Electronics Production with Efficient NMp Solvent Recovery Systems
N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMp) recovery technology can be divided into two main processes: condensation + adsorption and water spray processes. purification technology typically involves rectification to achieve electronic-grade NMp recycling.
NMp recovery systems typically consist of three primary process steps:
1. Adsorption
Exhaust air from lithium-ion battery electrode manufacturing is propelled through a zeolite wheel, capturing NMp emissions at room temperature.
2. Desorption
The NMp-laden "spent" zeolite is rotated around to the Desorption airflow where it is heated to 300-400°F and the NMp solvent is released into a small, concentrated air stream.
Multi-stage distillation can separate solvents into their components at lower-than-boiling point temperatures. This process can recover up to 95 percent of the used NMp. Fractional distillation provides advantages such as high-volume handling and enhanced efficiency compared to simple distillation.
A carbon bed may be the most effective solution in a laboratory environment with limited hours of operation. For large industrial installations, such as mass manufacturing of battery electrodes, a condenser followed by either a concentrator or a scrubber is an effective solution.
NMp solvent is highly absorbent, so it will absorb moisture in the air.

Nitrocellulose is brittle and delicate, but PVDF is stronger and more resistant to chemicals, making it perfect for reprobing and sequencing applications. It might be challenging to strip and reprobe nitrocellulose without losing signal.
Due to its good electrochemical stability, wettability with the electrolytes, and appropriate adhesive strength between electrode laminates and current collectors, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is frequently used as the binder in commercial LIBs.
It Costs More to Use PVDF.
Because PVDF is constructed from metal panels with a heavier gauge and better paint resins, the price is higher.
PVDF membranes have a higher protein binding capacity (150–200 g of protein/cm2) compared to nitrocellulose membranes. However, the pore sizes of the two membranes are similar (0.2 mm or 0.45 mm). PVDF must be pre-wetted with methanol but does not necessarily need a transfer buffer with it.
The primary issue with PVDF membranes in water treatment applications is their propensity to foul since they are hydrophobic, a problem that can be resolved by using the right hydrophilic treatments.
A non-aqueous electrolyte must be utilized because lithium and water react violently, and the cell voltage is so high that water would break down.
Ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), dimethyl carbonate (DMC), ethylene carbonate (EC), and diethyl carbonate (DEC) are among the solvents frequently utilized in lithium battery electrolytes.
Put some isopropyl alcohol on. In terms of cleaning electronics, isopropyl alcohol delivers a one-two punch. Without leaving behind any additional moisture, it removes residue from other cleaning products (in this case, lemon juice or white vinegar) that can gum up your devices. It dries rapidly and is safe and efficient.
While plasma and ion beam treatments often have a greater cleaning effectiveness, thermal annealing treatments are the first to be used to remove PMMA residues. Light treatment, which depends on the interaction between a particular substance and pollutants, is comparatively gentle compared to other methods.
In xylene, a combination of MIBK-xylene and chloroform, PMMA is dissolved.

After reading the handbook, which is rather clear and brief and seems to have been prepared by a native English speaker, the menus are simple to navigate. Excellent TENS functionality is to be expected from this 21st-century technology. Easy daily operation and good internal battery life are apparent. My only recommendations would be to provide a setting to reduce the display's illumination intensity, so that, yikes, it isn't shining brightly in a pitch-black room at night. and possibly a running battery status indicator to give the user an idea of how much power is left (albeit the device DOES notify the user when the battery needs to be charged). Overall, this was a good purchase due to the excellent build quality, performance, and design. SIX MONTH UPDATE: This unit continues to satisfy me. Every two to three days, it is used for an hour each day in TENS mode at Intensity level 8, mostly for the treatment of moderate sciatica. The battery currently needs to be charged roughly once a month. There is no doubt that I would lose this unit if I
This new TENS/EMS unit has satisfied me. Even though I've only had it for a week, I still need to treat the shoulder pain, and this device doubles as an EMS and TENS unit. My muscles actually contract while using the EMS setting, but it doesn't feel like a massage. Nothing tops a massage, I suppose. But this relieves discomfort in both directions. I hope this product lasts much longer than the inexpensive ones, and I would suggest it. When switched on, it has backlighting, which is fantastic for times when I want to set up another round of treatment while lying in bed at night. Without experiencing any frightening sensations like some inexpensive TENS pens produce, I have loved using the TENS setting up to level 10. Additionally, there were two excellent recommendations for this on YouTube from therapists, and that helped me decide. All is well thus far. Nothing negative to say about it, I think. It also features a little housing with a clip that you can attach to your belt, pocket, or any other piece of clothing you can think of. Not very bulky if you're wearing light yoga pants.
Yes, silicone tape does, in fact, lessen scarring. After testing a few different iterations of this product, I've found that this specific silicone tape is both the most efficient and reasonably priced. Once fully healed, which should take 7 to 10 days, start treatment. Simply trim the tape to be slightly broader and longer than the scar. Apply to dry, clean skin. Recent scars respond to it the best. To my happy surprise, nevertheless, this silicone tape also works well at considerably lessening older scars (personal outcomes may differ). The sensitivity of each person's skin to silicone also differs. Most people have no trouble with silicone tape. For the first few days, it is advised to apply for four hours, and then progressively extend contact duration to twelve to sixteen hours each day. Long-term, daily exposure did not affect me in any way, save from a noticeable and pleasant decrease in scarring. I've been using this product every day for the last twelve days, and I'm thrilled with how it's working on a number of tiny to medium-sized fresh and even older scars. My sole concern is
