Porsche sports cars are the “beautiful girls” in many men’s heart, and most of them want to own it. And Porsche is also one of the leaders that has the strength to compete for the leadership of the world’s most powerful battery manufacturing companies. Porsche is now advancing its ambitions to develop and manufacture high-performance batteries, one of which is the acquisition of a stake in Woodinville, Washington-based Group14 Technologies, a maker of advanced silicon-carbon technology for lithium-ion batteries.

With the blessing of capital, Group14 hopes to accelerate the global production and supply of its lithium-ion battery anode materials. This goal coincides with WIT FENGZE & ZESHENG. It is understood that Group14 will also supply the Cellforce Group in Tübingen in the future, and Cellforce was founded by Porsche and Customcells Holding in 2021. “From 2024, the joint venture hopes to produce self-developed high-performance silicon anode cells in Germany for use in low-volume, racing and high-performance vehicles. Cellforce cells are expected to be used in electric Porsche cars with high-performance powertrains.” Group14 and The combination of Cellforce means that the next set of battery cells in the future will be more powerful than existing lithium-ion batteries. Unlike Porsche’s sports car segment, Volvo specialises in the truck range. After the rise of the new energy industry holding the banner of environmental protection, major automobile companies have opened energy storage battery or power battery factories, and the production line has also changed from specializing in fuel vehicles to electric vehicles + fuel vehicles, and some companies directly cancel the fuel production line.  Volvo, the leader in trucks, also has this plan. “By 2030, at least 50% of all trucks we sell globally will be electric and by 2040, we will be a carbon-neutral company.”

On May 17, 2022, Volvo Trucks opened a battery factory in Ghent, Belgium, with plans to supply ready-to-use batteries for Volvo’s all-electric heavy-duty trucks. It is understood that Volvo truck batteries are specially designed to be remanufactured, refurbished and reused. The factory itself is also powered by 100% renewable energy, which is in line with the environmental protection standards of the new energy industry.
